“ I'm so glad to have such great people to get together with. I find it is such a pleasure to spend time and talk openly about almost anything and know that I am not being judged. Since I've been going through some really tough times lately, getting together with such wonderful people helps me take a break from thinking about the bad stuff. I always look forward to these meetups. The people are so understanding and can relate to what I am going through without explainations or trying to justify myself. I can't wait to see all of you. RJ, it was so great to see you again. I'm so glad that you're feeling better! See you all at the next meetup! I'll be a bit late, but will still come. Please wait for me, I'd hate to miss you guys. It seems that we'll be seeing each other more often which makes me very happy because I look forward to spending time with all of you. It's been a long time since I've had such good friends and I feel so lucky to have found this great group of people. ”

“ The six of us who were still there after 9:30 stayed until around midnight. We decided to exchange phone numbers and e-mail addresses, but I had to leave to get to Penn Station for a train and I have yet to receive the e-mailed version of this information that one of us promised to send. I'm looking forward to receiving it. It turns out that not only was I the oldest one at the table (by a year or two) but my diagnosis was by far the oldest (20 years). I'm glad I found this group. I hope to be able to give as much as -- if not more than -- I receive from this group. These are "my people" (one of several groups I can claim as "my people"). My treatment has been very successful, despite some difficult periods -- I've remained committed to taking my meds and learning about the condition we share, and I haven't had to be hospitalized since 1984 (before my bipolar diagnosis was made). While I haven't been manic, I HAVE experienced significant but not disabling depressions. Thanks! ”
