Meet with local people whose loved ones are suffering from bipolar/depression for discussion, information, and support.
Loving someone with mental illness is very confusing and taxing. You, the loved one, are not alone in your feelings of helplessness, blame, guilt, and even experiencing your own depression. The illness is not your fault and there are ways to help your loved one while helping yourself.
People who have the illness are welcome to join the group as well. It is helpful for both sides to understand each other and work towards mutual wellness and understanding.
Some books I would recommend are:
Depression Fallout: by Anne Sheffield
and
Loving Someone with Bipolar Disorder: by Julia Fast and John Preston
As this is a new group, I will hold off on holding a meetup until there are at least a few members. So please join if you are interested.
If you have bipolar dissorder there is another local group that you may be interested in:

Likewise if you have depression there is another local group for that as well:

This group doesn't have any additional upcoming Meetups scheduled.
Meetup Groups meet face-to-face to pursue hobbies, network, get support, make friends, find playgroups or even change the world.
