Hi everyone,

In response to my e-mail soliciting outing ideas from you, Pat mentioned a great idea: checking out the Beaches International Jazz Festival! So here's a tentative plan for our outing:

Event: Beaches International Jazz Festival (http://www.beachesjaz...)
Date: Saturday, July 25th 2009
Time: 4pm - whenever you'd like to go
Meeting Location: outside of Coffee Time Donuts @ 205 Woodbine Avenue (North East Corner of Woodbine and Queen Street beside the Shell Station.)

We'll begin by catching the acts at the main stage in Kew Gardens (http://www.beachesjaz..., stop for a bite of dinner somewhere in the vicinity, and then meander around Queen St. where the StreetFest (http://www.beachesjaz...) will feature various musicians along Queen St. from 7-11pm.

Here are Paul's handy directions of how to get there via TTC or your own vehicle:

TTC Routes:
Take 92 Woodbine South Bus from Woodbine Subway Station to Queen Street
Take 501 Queen St Streetcar east from Queen or Osgoode Subway Stations

Driving from the North:
401, Don Valley Pkwy South, exit Lakeshore Boulevard East
Travel along Lakeshore Boulevard East until you reach Coxwell Avenue
Turn Left (North) on Coxwell Avenue
Turn Right on Queen Street East

Driving from the West:
QEW Toronto to Gardiner Expressway and exit Lakeshore Boulevard East
Travel along Lakeshore Boulevard East until you reach Coxwell Avenue Turn Left (North) on Coxwell Avenue
Turn Right on Queen Street East

Note: Parking will be difficult so leave lots of time. There are several Toronto Parking Authority lots throughout the area and metered parking is available throughout the Beach area along its main arterials.

Ingrid, Paul and myself are looking forward to see you there, and would encourage you to RSVP via the events calendar on the bottom of our homepage as well. :)

Take care and enjoy the beautiful weather,
Becca

Hey everyone

The BAD and evil weather Man said it going to rain on Sat.

But that doesn't mean that we still can't all get together. I'm so looking forward to this. But if it rain really badly then lets have another plan that we can do for the Sat so that our day is not all crapped out because I know that we are all looking foward to having some fun.

Lots of Love,

Kat.

Great reminder, Kat! Hmm... all I can think of right now in terms of rain plans is maybe to go watch a movie and have dinner instead.... anyone have more creative/affordable ideas?

If we do end up going to the theatre, I think Varsity Cinemas on 55 Bloor St. W. would be a good location cuz it's close to where our monthly meetings happen. As for movie choice I'd be interested to see (500) Days of Summer (http://www.tribute.ca..., but I realize it may be more of a chick flick, so click here (http://www.tribute.ca...) for other movie options available showing at Varsity and we can decide what to watch. Or maybe we can have two different movie options and then come back together for dinner? Hit reply and get the discussion flowing. :) But hopefully the weather will be cooperative and we can go with our original plan.

The weather Man said last night. its going to feel like + 32 with the humid so it sounds like we are going to have fun no matter what we are going to do.So even though it might Rain oh well we will still have fun because we are together and it looks like 11 of us are going.

Paul and I are meeting at the woodbine subway for 3:pm near the ticket booth in case anyone else wants to meet there also and we take the bus together.

One of the early messages was we were going to eat dinner before was wondering any thoughts on where that might be?

Lots of love.

Kat

I will be in the area saturday helping to build a wheelchair access ramp at a friends house.

sad story, he used to be a marathon runner and drew media attention running across Africa and around Lake Ontario to raise money for various worthy causes but, last october he learned that he had developed amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease), an incurable disorder with those afflicted become progressively paralyzed over time.

so, if you are actually attending the jazzfest, in spite of the weather, I can likely meet you there, although I may be wearing my overall work-shorts with my tool-belt over my shoulder.

I just spoke with Paul about tomorrow and we've decided to go ahead down to the Beaches Jazz Fest rain or shine. Please update your RSVP accordingly so we can have an accurate list of who's coming, and I look forward to seeing you all soon! :)
